Overview
As an experienced editor, my ultimate goal is to help authors keep the reader hooked from start to finish. This means making sure the storytelling is as engaging as possible, and just as important, free from distracting problems. Rest assured, I have a keen eye for both detail and the big picture. My skills range from spotting the smallest of errors to editing for consistency, clarity, accuracy, organization, pacing, voice, and style. I learn house styles very quickly and am not hesitant to ask questions. I aim to protect the author's voice, while also ensuring that the tone is just right.
Although most of my experience is with creative nonfiction, I'm an avid reader, particularly of mysteries, and have no doubt of my ability to help make a fiction manuscript unforgettable. And regardless of whether the job is simple or complicated, long or short, fun or somewhat tedious, I'm always enthusiastic about my work and get along well with team members and authors. My recent experience has ranged from copyediting a series of DK Super Readers for children to proofreading a hilarious and unexpectedly touching memoir about diving into the expanding world of pickleball. I have worked on more than 100 children's books and several fantastic adult memoirs. I've loved every project, and I'm sure I'll love yours, too!
