Jamie Whyte – Designer

I'm an illustrator and creative cartographer, and am the author and illustrator of the satirical puzzle book 'Brexit: Join the F***ing Dots' (Octopus, 2018). My illustrations and illustrated maps have been published around the world in over 90 fiction and non-fiction books for publishers including Penguin Random House, Bloomsbury, Atlantic Books, Head of Zeus and Quercus. My original work appeared alongside acclaimed and Oscar-winning Tolkien illustrators in 'The Illustrated World of Tolkien' (Octopus, 2019), and five of Octopus’s other popular Tolkien guides. My work also appears in numerous non-fiction books, including an illustrated map for the autobiography of Ray Winstone, 'Young Winstone' (Canongate). Bestselling authors I have worked with include Dan Jones, Alice Roberts, Gavin Frances, Chloe Dalton, Giles Tremlett, Sharon Emmerichs, Roxanne van Iperen, Peter May and Martin Walker.

In December of 2023 I was invited onto BBC Radio 4's Front Row to talk about my career in cartographic illustration and to discuss map making more generally.
