Overview

I am a developmental and line editor specializing in history, topics in the humanities, and non-fiction literature. I am also a certified copyeditor.

Early in my career I worked for two publishing houses where I edited manuscripts ranging from non-fiction children's books to cookbooks, so I am comfortable with a wide array of genres. In addition to logging thousands of hours in researching, writing, and editing my dissertation, I have eight years of experience working as a

freelance editor, writer, and reviewer for scholarly publications. I'm also a peer-reviewed published author and well-versed in the academic publishing process.

As a fellow writer, I understand the importance of maintaining the author’s voice while working on a manuscript. It is my goal to be supportive, collaborative, and provide constructive feedback while partnering with you. While I don’t specialize in fiction, I am adept at editing historical fiction and researching various historical periods. If you are looking for an editor who can factcheck and ground the storyline within the historical context for your historical fiction work, I might be the right fit for you.

Holly edited our 50,000 word book and went above and beyond in every way for us. In proofreading she caught so many mistakes we would never have caught. And her overall suggestions to improve the book were all spot-on. We were so fortunate to find her.

Wow. I knew Holly's credentials would be a perfect fit for the book I wrote, though I didn't know how above and beyond her work would expand. She is so knowledgable, punctual in communication and values contributing to creating the perfect book for the author. In her developmental and copy editing, she gave me points feedback considered from various potential reader perspectives to really st...

I found Holly to be very professional. She dug deep into a first-time author's attempt at writing historical fiction with enthusiasm. This was much appreciated. She asked pertinent questions about the accuracy of the material as I wove a fictional story between historical events. This was done in a friendly and helpful manner. Her work was completed on time despite the emergence of covid that i...
