Heather Alexander

Heather Alexander – Editor

Children's media expert specializing in podcasts, screenplays, scripts for tv and audio, and middle grade, young adult and graphic novels.

Overview

For nearly 20 years, I've lived and breathed children's stories—as an editor at Penguin Random House/Dial Books for Young Readers, an agent at Pippin Properties, and most recently as Senior Director of Kids and Family at Audible, where I produced over 100 audio shows.

My editing style is thorough and collaborative. I read with both a reader's heart and an editor's eye, leaving margin notes as I go so you can see exactly where questions or ideas sparked. Then I pull it all together in a comprehensive editorial letter covering character development, plot structure, pacing, tension, and those nuanced things that make a story sing.

I work across formats—picture books, graphic novels, middle grade, YA, and scripts/screenplays—because great storytelling transcends medium. Whether you're writing your first manuscript or your fifteenth, I'm here to help you see what's working brilliantly and what needs another pass.

I've spent two decades in this industry because children's stories matter. They're not just my favorite—they're the most important. And I'm genuinely excited to help yours become the best version of itself.
