Kelli Fillingim

Kelli Fillingim – Editor

I work on a wide variety of women's fiction, mysteries, and compelling non-fiction. Worked at Hachette, Insight Editions, and Random House.

Overview

Having worked in the publishing industry for almost 20 years, I have a clear understanding of the process of following a manuscript, or even a book proposal idea, to the final published book. My editorial skillset includes providing content development, line editing, and query letter review. In my career, I have edited a wide variety of fiction, entertainment coffee table books, and international relations/history textbooks.

I began my publishing career at a literary agency in NYC and got my feet wet working as an assistant, where I worked with New York Times bestselling commercial fiction authors. The knowledge I gained there was extremely valuable as I moved up the editorial professional ladder at both Random House and Hachette. I have a strong passion for every author's unique storytelling process and a great admiration for this important talent. I understand the value of writing to the audience you are marketing to and how best to reach that specific audience. Essentially, I want every author I work with to feel confident in what we have achieved as an editor/writer team at the end of our time working together.

I am including a testimonial below from an author I recently worked with.

"Kelli worked with me on my new novel The Black Bookends. Her work was thorough and insightful at both the structural and line levels, as she used her expertise from her years in the publishing industry to help me get it ready for publication. Thanks, Kelli!"

~James Knisely, author, Chance: An Existential Horse Opera
