Rachel Doyle

Rachel Doyle – Editor

I'm a developmental script editor known for shaping indelible long-form narrative stories across mediums (fiction, nonfiction, audio, docs)

Overview

I'm a versatile multi-platform journalist, developmental script editor and story doctor with a strong track record of ushering complex projects through concept development, structural edits, and final polish. I love helping authors find the story hooks and entry points that will resonate with readers, and working with them to tell their stories in the most captivating way possible.

Highly skilled in narrative storytelling, structural overhauls, pacing, and deep character work. I relish the challenge of making nonfiction stories feel as immersive and cinematic as movies, and shaping fictional stories so they feel as alive and high-stakes as a premium docuseries.

I'm an experienced senior editor for journalistic and historical nonfiction projects, along with many serialized podcasts. My professional long-form editing experience is currently in journalistic mediums like magazines and limited series podcasts, but I've also edited movie scripts, biographies and novels for friends. My professional work as a senior editor at the History Channel informs my work as an editor of work set in specific moments in history.

I have an M.A. in Creative Writing (Prose) from the University of East Anglia in the U.K., and lots of experience giving solutions-oriented notes on novels-in-progress and short stories in a workshop environment.
