Stephanie Doig

Stephanie Doig – Editor

Former senior editor at Carina Press, Carina Adores and Harlequin's trade paperback imprints. Let's work together to make your book shine!

Overview

I worked in traditional romance publishing, for Harlequin's Carina Press imprint, for many years, working my way up from editorial assistant to senior editor. In the course of my career at Harlequin, I've worked with debut and New York Times bestselling authors, and I’ve edited a variety of genres (although romance is my true passion!).

With every story I work on, I provide helpful, actionable feedback on plot, characterization, pacing and other big picture elements. Authors who work with me can expect to receive thorough, honest but encouraging edits (I'm Canadian, so I promise I'll be nice!), leaving them fully equipped to revise and make their book the best it can be.

“Stephanie is such a thoughtful, kind, and insightful editor. I appreciated how carefully she listened and worked with me to turn the books into the best version of themselves; work that paid off with thousands of happy readers!”

— Lindz McLeod, author of THE UNLIKELY PURSUIT OF MARY BENNETT and THE MISEDUCATION OF CAROLINE BINGLEY

***

“Working with Stephanie was a truly formative experience for me as a debut author. Her insight and clarity made Weaponized and Scandalized stronger in every way."

— Kelly Kilburn, author of WEAPONIZED and SCANDALIZED

***

"Stephanie is my favourite editor in the industry to work with and I highly recommend her services, whether you are looking to level up your craft or seeking expert eyes for your next release.”

— Ruby Barrett, author of HOT COPY, THE ROMANCE RECIPE, and THE FRIENDSHIP STUDY

***

"Stephanie is an absolute dream to work with. She's helped me with three books and on all three has demonstrated patience, humour and an enthusiasm which truly is appreciated during the often nerve-wracking editing process! Not only is she a lovely human, she has a knack for seeing both the larger plot and the minute detail that take a book from rock to diamond. Her extensive knowledge of the genre really shows - don't go anywhere else!"

— Sophie H. Morgan, author of THE WITCH IS BACK, DEWITCHED, and SEASON OF THE WITCH

Work experience

Carina Press/Harlequin

Nov, 2008 — Dec, 2025 (about 17 years)
As senior editor for Harlequin/Carina Press, I acquired and edited books (primarily in the romance genre) for our trade paperback and digital-first programs, working closely with authors and agents on pitches and proposals, and providing detailed developmental and line edits on full manuscripts. As an in-house editor, I also served a project manager role, working closely with authors and with the in-house team on cover art and back cover copy, sourcing endorsements, and copyedit review. I also managed and mentored a team of editors.
