A cavernous hollow of stone and shadow, the cathedral stood in absolute silence, swallowing even the echo of breath. The ceremony long since ended, the new emperor remained alone with nothing but the cold, unyielding presence of a casket. Wrought from copper and glass, its polished surface reflected the last light of day like a dying ember. Beyond the walls, crowds surged—thousands pressed together, huddled in shared grief, their heads bowed in whispered prayers as they waited for their final goodbye. No fires burned this night. No torches...
