The truth of it all is nearly unbearable. The simplicity, the ease at which it all unraveled was tortuous. Piece by piece my heart was broken. My mom’s illness had taken a toll on all of us. Watching her slowly deteriorate. Losing one ability after another. And the whole time she kept innocently and sweetly inquiring, “when will I feel better?” And it was a fair question since the doctor’s had not prepared us for anything else.
