It’s been a rough few years. Jail changed my life. House arrest was a challenge. Then mom got sick. I really should go to the party tonight; it’s the only time my nephew will graduate from university and I should be there to help him celebrate. He worked so hard, and I am proud of him being the first college graduate in our family. But. I can’t face these people. The red splotches kept spreading. What was happening to her skin? It was spreading everywhere that the sun touched. This stinging and burning was slowing her down. She would have to take care of these hives before the work continued. The work must continue or Poppa would beat her. Again. The prairie grasses swayed above her gently in the summer breeze. The supper bell would ring any minute, and the cows needed to come in from the field before I ate. Momma did not tolerate laziness or tardiness from her children, especially not her young...

Harvey extricates himself from his brothers and sisters and creeps out of the burrow before his parents can wake up. He shouldn’t wander the dangerous rainforest alone, but after all the togetherness of the burrow, he needs fresh air. While walking around, he realizes he is hungry, so sits down to enjoy some grains he brought with him. After a full afternoon wandering around and admiring flora and fauna, he lays down to take a nap, hiding under some leaves. The rushing wind wakes Harvey up. Stunned to find himself soaring over the rainfores...
