You may have heard rumors that St. Christopher was demoted and lost his sainthood; nothing could be further from the truth. That St. Christopher medal in your glove compartment is still valid. In 1969 the Church decided there were too many saints with feast days (there are over 10,000 saints), so they updated the calendar.
