The air conditioning had gotten way worse when I came home from work. The 100-degree weather was not making things any better, just like the weather forecast claiming it was the hottest summer this part of the country had seen in decades. The landlord was supposed to get someone to come in and fix it during the day, but apparently, he had ‘forgotten’- more likely, ‘not cared’.
