Claire Wallace – Editor

I'm a developmental editor at W. W. Norton, focusing on educational textbooks for college writing classes as well as nonfiction books about writing, language, and storytelling for a general audience. I also have extensive experience proofreading and copyediting. I've worked on many market-leading textbooks in composition and rhetoric, including the past three editions of the market-leading writing handbook, The Little Seagull Handbook. I am also an expert in citation styles (MLA, APA, Chicago), and I wrote the MLA and APA chapters for Norton's composition list.

I really enjoy working with authors to figure out what book they want to write and then helping them write it. I especially enjoy line editing, and I get a lot of satisfaction out of making a piece of writing clearer and sharper without sacrificing the writer's voice. I look forward to working with you!
