Christina Sterbenz

Christina Sterbenz – Editor

Award-winning editor with over a decade of experience in New York media. A good story conveys emotion and information like nothing else.

Overview

If there's two lessons I've learned after more than a decade in editing, it's this: 1. Don't be boring. 2. People do give a f*ck about the Oxford comma.

All jokes aside, I've done a lot in my career: worked with Emmy-award winning writers and producers, had my work featured on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, and been cited by members of Congress.

But by far, the most rewarding part of this work is seeing a story go from an idea to an engaging narrative full of details, emotion and information.

You can expect clear but kind communication from me. I'd much prefer to collaborate than rule with an iron pen (or keyboard, I guess). Between juggling full-time jobs and freelancing, I've developed an effective process that maximizes productivity and minimizes time.

Bloomberg Opinion

Feb, 2024 — Present
I do a little bit of a lot here: edit data projects, script videos, brainstorm headlines, and review social copy for various platforms. I've even written a newsletter or two.

VICE

Nov, 2016 — May, 2023 (over 6 years)
After being promoted from news editor in 2019, I planned, assigned, and edited news, features, and videos on criminal justice, extremism, drugs, and environment. I'm especially proud that our coverage of so-called "gas station heroin" won a New York Press Club award.
