Cassie Armstrong

Cassie Armstrong – Editor

Editor with over 16 years experience. I specialize in copyediting and proofreading children's middle-grade fiction, YA , and nonfiction.

Overview

I'm a word nerd with sixteen years of editing experience who's edited two award winning trade books, but my specialty and love is editing children's books. I edit picture books, middle-grade fiction, YA fiction, and children's nonfiction. I work with independent authors, publishers, and packagers.

Working with words is my passion and helping you achieve your goals is my mission. As your editor, you'll first complete my author's questionnaire. I'll also ask for a sample from the middle of your manuscript to help me assess your editing needs. I'm thorough and easy to work with. I answer all emails as soon as I receive them, and I provide suggestions and answers throughout the editing process. A video conference is included in my contract and takes place after I return your edited manuscript. During the conference, I'll answer your questions and discuss other editing possibilities.

"I’m really pleased I chose Cassie to edit my book. She recommended sensible changes, gave good explanations of why she edited, edited in a way that still allowed my writing style to flow, and picked up errors that I hadn’t noticed while doing my own pre-editing. She is friendly and approachable, as well as professional. The editing process worked well despite being in another country. I look forward to working with her in the future. "
—Izzy Laing, Author of Lavender Plant and the Two Naughty Fairies

"As well as being a very accurate and flexible editor and proofreader, Cassie is a delight to work with. I can’t recommend her highly enough."
—Donna Gregory, Children's Editor, Arcturus Publishing

"Cassie is a great communicator and helped me understand the many aspects of editing and proofreading. She is very professional, intelligent, and courteous. She went above and beyond and helped me with an issue even after completing my project. I cannot recommend her enough."
—Stephanie McCoy, Author of My Own Two Feet

"Cassie’s editing and communication style make her an easy fit in today’s complex book projects. She is accurate and succinct. An all-around pleasure to work with."
—Lydia Inglett, Publisher and CEO, Lydia Inglett Ltd Publishing

Cassie provided excellent feedback and insight and really has been more than an editor/reviewer. She has been a wonderful coach for someone like me who is new to writing as an aspiring professional. Additionally, she is prompt, courteous and candid. I would highly recommend working with Cassie.
