Overview
Hi there, aspiring author! I'm a freelance nonfiction book ghostwriter, bylined author & co-author. Topics I've spent many years writing about include business and personal finance, startups, entrepreneurship, leadership, legal, retail, e-commerce, and more.
My traditional print books include How They Started: How 25 Good Ideas Became Great Companies [Crimson Business 2012] --this one started out as a ghostwriting gig, but they ended up giving me a byline!--and The Pocket Small Business Owner's Guide to Starting Your Business on a Shoestring. [Allworth Press 2013]. Also the author of 14 self-published ebooks I created as lead-gen for my online paid-community, courses, and coaching business (built and sold, 2010-21), including The Recession-Proof Freelancer.
That's right, I'm that rare business book ghostwriter who's also been a business owner. So I get it. And also get book marketing–I earned $60K+ from my ebooks, and throw in a free hour of book-marketing tips for my authors. I can save you some time there, on book marketing strategies that work and don't.
What clients say:
"Carol is a top shelf business writer. My colleague and I selected her due to her experience and, more importantly, ability to translate sophisticated concepts into a reader friendly format. She exceeded those expectations. Further, she understands business, is adept at working with little guidance, meets deadlines effectively, and provides the panache needed to craft a good story. I highly recommend her."–Ed Barrows, Harvard and DukeCE faculty, Executive Coach, Co-Author: Twelve Skills: the guide to becoming a stronger leader and accelerating your career
"Carol has been a great ebook writer. I couldn't have asked for better quality, turnaround times, and attitude. What a great writer to have on your projects!"–Dan Virgillito, former international content lead, Shopify
"Carol is a pro at ghostwriting and a pleasure to collaborate with. Not only does she write well and fast, she's also wise, supportive, funny, and all-around delightful. I feel very lucky to have found her and would highly recommend her to anyone seeking to write a business book."–Eric Rosenfeld, Founder, Oregon Venture Fund
I put in 12 years as a staff journalist at two business publications, filing 3-4 stories a week. If you need an accomplished business storyteller who can work fast, let's talk! I've freelanced for Forbes, Entrepreneur, Seattle Business, Costco, American Express, Deloitte, and more.
Contact me for book-ghosting contracts over $30K (less for shorter books, of course), and content projects over $5K. I offer authors who contact me through Reedsy a free, no-obligation Zoom call–let's discuss your book!
Curious how a first meeting with a ghostwriter goes? Shoot me a message and I'll be happy to send you a copy of my ebook 'How to Hire a Book Ghostwriter.'

I've ghostwritten 12 titles in the past few years, and published three bylined/co-bylined titles, including one for a division of Shopify. I've also written for Costco, American Express, Alaska Airlines, Deloitte, Labor Ready, and many more. Publications include Forbes, Entrepreneur, Delta Sky, Seattle Business, the Seattle Times. Not bad for a college dropout, hm? If you're looking for a writer with street smarts, I'm it.
I was a staff journalist for 12 years, including 7 for the Puget Sound Business Journal in Seattle. I've interviewed Bezos, Brotman, Nordstrom, Cuban, and many others.
See my Forbes stats in the graphics below–I drove 2.5 million unique visitors there with just 164 posts. My blog Make a Living Writing hit nearly 1 million annual readers.
Many authors I've ghosted for don't post their books to Amazon -- happy to provide more titles on request.
