Overview

Hi there, aspiring author! I'm a freelance nonfiction book ghostwriter, bylined author & co-author. Topics I've spent years writing about include business finance, startups, entrepreneurship, leadership, legal, retail, e-commerce, and more .

My most recent client is Entrepreneur's books division, where I'm serving as a behind-the-scenes book doctor. My traditional print books include "How They Started: How 25 Good Ideas Became Great Companies" [Crimson Business 2012] --this one started out as a ghostwriting gig, but they ended up giving me a byline!--and "The Pocket Small Business Owner's Guide to Starting Your Business on a Shoestring." Also the author of 14 self-published ebooks, including The Recession-Proof Freelancer.

I put in 12 years as a staff journalist at two business publications, filing 3-4 stories a week. If you need an accomplished business storyteller who can work fast, let's talk! I've freelanced for Forbes, Entrepreneur, Seattle Business, Costco, American Express, Deloitte, and many more.

What's different about me? I built and sold an online business, so I've been an owner, too. So I get business leaders' challenges and mindset like few other writers you'll find.

Contact me for book-ghosting contracts over $25K, and content projects over $1K.

Plus 12+ ebooks for freelance writers, including The Recession-Proof Freelancer.

My business clients have included Costco, American Express, Alaska Airlines, Deloitte, Labor Ready, ChemPoint, Milliman. If you're looking for a writer with street smarts, I'm it.

Prior to this freelance stint, I was a staff journalist for 12 years, for the Puget Sound Business Journal in Seattle, and home-improvement trade publication National Home Center News. I've interviewed Bezos, Brotman, Nordstrom, Cuban, and many more.

My blog, Make a Living Writing, has 1000 posts and is read by 1M viewers a year. I have over 15,000 blog subscribers. If you need to develop content that builds an audience...I know a few tricks. ;-) See my Forbes stats in the graphics below for how I drove 2.5 million unique visitors to the site with just 164 posts.

Loved working with Carol! Without her, my book would have never turned out the way it turned out. Carol's expertise on project managing my book made it a great success and I am so grateful for it. The partnership was smooth & efficient with great communication, and the sessions turned out witty & humorous. Carol was the best person for our project--she made it a priority to nail down the right voice and tone, and she was very communicative throughout the process. Her work was high-quality and she conducted thorough research on many topics, which was a necessity for our book. I would recommend her to anyone.
