Candace Rardon – Designer

Hello! My name is Candace, and I’m a professional illustrator with a passion for creating artwork with a vivid sense of place. As BBC Travel editor Ellie Cobb has said, my illustrations “bring stories to life magnificently, helping to transport the reader to the destination.”

Over the past decade, I’ve worked with an array of publishers — including Penguin Random House, Princeton Architectural Press, Quirk Books, and Travelers’ Tales — as well as with independent authors across the world.

I’m available to create unique illustrated book covers, interior book illustrations, and whimsical illustrated maps, and I’m proud to say that all of my artwork is hand-drawn and hand-painted, with both acrylic inks and watercolors.

To give you a sense of my process, I always begin with an in-depth consultation about your vision. I’ll then put together an initial draft sketch for you to approve — or make changes to — before I get started on the final, full-color artwork, which I’ll share with you as a high-res digital file.

I’m especially drawn to projects that include an element of travel, nature, and world cultures — if your story includes a journey, chances are we’ll work well together. I look forward to helping you bring your stories to life!
