Overview
Hi, I'm C.J.! I'm a New York Times bestselling author published by HarperCollins, Union Square, Hachette, and Audible, with 17 years of professional editing experience across traditional and indie publishing.
I've worked with bestselling and award-winning authors including Shannon Messenger, Jodi Meadows, Tyann Osborn, and Danica Banes, and I offer developmental edits, line edits, editorial assessments, proofreading, and book coaching. I specialize in nonfiction, young adult, and genre fiction.
I also specialize in book proposals (nonfiction and fiction) and query letters. I edit or ghostwrite several a month, and recent clients have gone on to sign with literary agents or receive publishing deals using the proposals and queries I did for them. It's some of my favorite work!
I'm regularly booked at national writing conferences to teach workshops on query letter writing, book proposals, and all aspects of the writing process. I love making sure my clients are well-informed and ready for their chosen publication path.
I believe everyone has a valuable story to tell! My job is to help you uncover the strongest version of yours and position it so the right readers can find it. Whether you're drafting your first novel, polishing a memoir, or developing a series, I bring both an author's eye and an editor's craft to every project.
I love partnering with my clients and am respectful of individual writer's voices and unique visions. By combining my extensive knowledge of the publishing landscape and my experience as both an editor and author across multiple genres, I help my clients pursue their goals with confidence.
When I'm not editing or writing, you'll find me cooking with my kids, watching movies with my husband, or buried in a good book.
