Overview

Before becoming an independent cookbook editor, I worked at Time Inc. Books where I helped authors and brands shape their cookbooks to their fullest potential. I compiled, edited and managed the production of over 100 food publications for independent authors and national brands including Cooking Light, Weight Watchers, Biggest Loser, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker and Lodge.

As an independent cookbook editor, I collaborate with other writers, chefs and passionate home cooks to help tell their food stories and share their recipes in beautifully illustrated books. Provided strategic leadership for nationally branded books and newsstand publications including Weight Watchers, The Biggest Loser, Cooking Light, Lodge, Mayo Clinic, Betty Crocker, and Pillsbury. Produced beautifully illustrated cookbooks with delicious recipes to inspire consumer audiences to cook at home.
• Researched health, food, and nutrition trends to steer publications from concept through completion, including writing and editing manuscripts for over 10 publications annually
• Served as editorial liaison for 9 brands and improved business relationships as well as ensured publications delivered products on target with brands’ needs and standards
• Managed a team of in-house and freelance editors to produce over 27 publications that sold a total of 9 million units annually
• Leveraged market knowledge, trends, and competitive sales data to develop publication lists, including determining concepts, sales channels, pricing, and market positioning
• Led the creation of covers, interior designs, photography, and recipe development to ensure each accurately reflected the publication’s concept, brand, and market position
• Spearheaded, planned, and coordinated brainstorming meetings as well as competitive trend updates with managers and editors
• Created, monitored, and managed the editorial operations, including development plans and schedules to maximize workflow efficiency
