Alex Barba

Alex Barba – Editor

Former literary agent, book scout, and script doctor specializing in YA and romance. In the words of a great mentor: Story matters!

Overview

I am an experienced fiction editor, literary agent, book scout, script doctor, and magazine and nonprofit editor. For the majority of my career I've worked on YA and romance stories - first love, love denied, coming-of-age, friendships and adventures, and spicy feminist romance. My main area of expertise is in YA fiction in the following genres: contemporary/realistic, rom-com, contemporary ("low") fantasy, and paranormal fantasy. But I've seen it all, and I love finding a good story in any setting!

What I'm most passionate about is helping to make a good story even better. I enjoy working with writers who are looking to take their work to the next level. I bring a thorough, careful eye to each project and enjoy working with authors in all manner of developmental stages.
