Yumiko Kitazono – Designer

I specialize in illustrating picture books, but I'm also open to board books, chapter books, and children's editorial content. I create lively, endearing, and whimsical characters that young readers can relate to. My art evokes warmth, nostalgia, and childhood wonder, and is influenced by my Japanese heritage.

I’m a finalist in the 2024 and 2025 PBParty contest, a portfolio showcase winner at two SCBWI regional conferences in 2025, an active member of SCBWI, and an alum of The Illustration Department.

I have illustrated editorial pieces for Grilled Cheese Magazine and Florida Tech Magazine.

I enjoy working with gouache, watercolor, colored pencils, ink, and digital media. My favorite subjects to draw are all kinds of animals and kids in action.
