Overview
Hi there! My name is Montana and I have a great passion for designing books. I am based in Santa Fe, NM where I worked for an art book publisher for 8 years. I have been honored to work on many projects that have won various awards including the AIGA 50 Books | 50 Covers award.
Before immersing myself in the world of book design and publishing I obtained my degree in Graphic Design. In the past 12 years I have worked on over 200 books. I have a great appreciation for the artists vision, and really enjoy working closely and collaborating with my clients to create the best book design possible. I believe books in themselves are pieces of art and it is so important to me that the client feels it embodies them and their work. This continually inspires me to push myself on learning new skill sets and being open to new layouts and design methods.
Having a varied design background in publishing, art directing, marketing, and project management, has allowed me to design for a multitude of clients from self-published authors to publishing houses. While my background is heavily in artbooks, I have been designing non-fiction book layouts for the past three years that range 200-600 pages. I believe in the design business, communication is key to having a successful project, and I am always readily available for clients to be in touch with me when design needs arise.
Although I have been working in the digital world recently, I could not imagine ever transitioning away from books fully. It brings me such satisfaction to see the beginning idea of a book come to life in three-dimensional form. Please reach out if you would like some help in your process and journey to creating an aesthetic monograph!
