Iva Mykhailian – Designer

Hello! My name is Iva, and I am a Ukrainian illustrator currently based in Germany.

For over 10 years, I have been working as a freelance illustrator on publishing and editorial projects, including illustrated books, cover art, educational materials, encyclopedias, and visual development.

My background in graphic arts and painting strongly influences the way I approach illustration. Although I work primarily digitally, I aim to preserve the tactile and expressive quality of traditional media, creating artwork with a strong sense of texture and atmosphere.

I enjoy working across a range of themes, from fantasy, mythology, and folklore to contemporary and more conceptual visual narratives. I am particularly interested in storytelling through imagery, character design, and creating illustrations that feel emotionally engaging and visually distinctive.

Over the years, I have collaborated with publishers on both narrative and educational projects, always aiming to create illustrations that reflect the mood and identity of each story while remaining consistent with my artistic style.

I value thoughtful communication throughout the creative process, from early sketches and concepts to final artwork prepared for print and publication.
