Overview
I have more than 29 years of experience indexing books and other media. In addition to creating traditional indexes, I produce embedded indexes in Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe InDesign, DocBook, HTML, and XML.
I have served as Vice President and Program Chair of the New York City Chapter of the American Society for Indexing, and as Chair of the Web Indexing Special Interest Group. I have also taught several hands-on workshops on embedded indexing and on indexing websites and intranets.
I developed and taught the University of California, Berkeley Extension course “Embedded Indexing and Indexing of Ebooks,” serving for several years as its lead instructor.
A native English speaker, I am fluent in Spanish and can understand Portuguese. I lived in Chile for three years (2000–2003) and have delivered numerous presentations in Spanish to large conference audiences. I especially enjoy indexing books in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
