Brianna Kaiser

Brianna Kaiser – Editor

Published author and editor with 5+ years of editorial experience. Specializes in children’s fiction and nonfiction.

Overview

I’m an editor in Minneapolis. I joined Lerner Publishing Group in 2019 after graduating from the University of Minnesota Duluth with majors in English and Journalism.

With Lerner, I have edited over 150 children's fiction and nonfiction books ranging from pre-k to 12th grade. I have worked on two books that received starred reviews, and I have worked with award-winning authors. I have worked on countless topics (including biographies, history, animals, and character-driven fiction), and I have helped authors fact-check information, come up with ideas, organize text, and express ideas clearly for the appropriate age level.

Editing books and helping authors shape their stories brings me immense joy. Whether I’m doing a developmental edit, editorial assessment, copy edit, or proofread, my goal as an editor is to help authors make their work the best it can be. I believe editing is a collaboration. My edits are always just suggestions to help improve the writing, but the ultimate decisions are always up to the author.

When I’m not editing, I’m traveling or have my nose in a book. I read across all genres and ages, mainly reading young adult and adult romance, realistic fiction, and historical fiction.

Currently, I am open to working to working on novels in any genre. Interested in working with me? Let’s discuss the best editing option for you!

Brianna is great to work with. She has an eye for details as well as the over-all picture. I appreciate her suggestions for revisions or additions to the storyline. This is the second time I've worked with her and I hope to continue the relationship.
