Overview

I'm a Canadian Graphic Designer, who specializes in lettering-based designs and contemporary illustration. I work with clients both big and small, some notable companies are Wattpad, Harlequin Canada and Source Books.

Genres I work in are Contemporary Romance, Chick-lit, Young Adult, and Women's Fiction. I also work on many projects such as guided journals and gifts!

I've always had a passion for book covers and design. I know they say "don't judge a book by its cover" but as a Designer, I always do! I also apply my knowledge to book interior projects.

I have a background in Print Design, where I worked in-house for 3+ years through every stage of the printing process. My knowledge of print is used every day. I want to provide everything I can to my clients to make the publishing process seamless and stress-free!

Projects typically take 2-4 weeks - I work on cover design and interior formatting for both print and ebooks.

Work experience

Graphic Designer and Illustrator

Self-employed
July, 2017 – Present (almost 6 years)

As a freelance graphic designer, I provide services such as book cover design, interior formatting/typesetting, custom illustration, lettering, and branding to clients of all sizes.
Some notable commercial clients are Harlequin Canada, Wattpad, Source Books, Tule Publishing, Rising Action Publishing, and Alcove Press/Crooked Lane Books.

Design Specialist

The Printing House
August, 2015 – July, 2017 (almost 2 years)

I started my career at The Printing House, working from Finishing to Print and eventually Design.
My time as a Designer was spent creating business stationery, large format projects and to my surprise book covers for self-published authors.

When designing books I was responsible for everything. Cover, Interior, Jacket, and Illustrations. It was a great learning opportunity and helped me discover my strengths as a Designer.

Ashley was amazing to work with! She illustrated an entire YA series for me and made the stories come alive on the covers. I'll be using her for all my projects from now on.

I'm still in the middle of working with Ashley, but she's awesome!!! She's very communicative, always open to discussing even the smallest details, and she's so good at translating basic concepts into designs! I definitely plan and look forward to working with her again in the future! :)

Ashley was great to work with, and I was so happy with the end result that I've already signed up to have her design my second book cover. Thanks, Ashley!
