To get more traffic to your profile and attract more requests from your ideal clients, share your expertise with over 1.5 million monthly users on the Reedsy Blog.
What’s the Reedsy Blog?
The Reedsy Blog hosts educational content for writers, authors, and other publishing professionals. Leveraging our community’s expertise on all things related to publishing, we aim to provide writers with free, high-quality, entertaining, and insightful resources. The blog attracts over 1.5 million visitors monthly and is a significant source of requests for the Reedsy marketplace.
So, how can I get involved?
All Reedsy professionals can now share their insights on our blog to find exposure with our captive audience. Head to the CONTRIBUTIONS tab on your Reedsy dashboard (within the REQUESTS section) and start answering questions related to our most popular articles.
What are you looking for in answers?
Here are some guidelines to remember while you're writing your contributions:
- The most valuable thing you can offer is insight based on your personal experience. Where suitable, give quick, tangible examples from projects you’ve worked on (or books you’ve loved).
- You’ll be able to see the answers other freelancers have given to the same answer, but there’s no way for you to know in which order they will be presented — so don’t give your answer in direct reply to other answers.
- Please answer the question as directly as possible, using fewer than 200 words. Readers will only see the first line or two. Hook them from the start and get them to hit the 'read more' button.
Does someone need to approve my contributions?
Our team manually approves each answer, so it could take a few working days before your contribution appears on the blog. As more Reedsy professionals provide their answers, we may become more selective to ensure that new responses aren’t simply repeating other contributions. (That’s where sharing your personal experience can help.)
What will happen to my contributions after I submit them?
For each question, the Reedsy content team will manually select one answer to be featured as the top response, and then your contribution will be featured in one of our blog posts. We will audit each question regularly to ensure that other contributors have a chance to feature. For consistency, our editorial team may also occasionally reformat your answer.
How will I get exposure from this?
This is an opportunity to speak directly to prospective clients in a positive, low-pressure environment. Give authors a sense of your communication style and expertise through your responses and show your ideal clients why you're a perfect fit for their project.
There will be a call to action at the bottom of your response, encouraging readers to check out your Reedsy profile and send you a request.
Which questions should I answer?
We have already pre-filtered the questions you can answer, ensuring that editors won’t be asked to respond to questions about font choice in cover design. It’s up to you; however, answering questions related to your specialty genre or service might be a good place to start.
There’s also an advantage to contributing to questions that don’t have as many answers already, as you’ll stand a better chance of being featured.
Is there anything I can’t say in my responses?
Reedsy’s Terms of Use still apply, so you can’t reveal your full name, for example, or provide external links. Also, you’re warmly encouraged not to disparage Reedsy or other professionals on the platform 😅 Apart from that, you’re free to share any hot takes you have or to offer advice that might run contrary to what is suggested in Reedsy’s blog (so long as it’s suggested respectfully).
