Overview
I have translated books by Dan Abnett, Scott Westerfeld, Helen Keen, Brian Ruckley, Patricia Briggs, Graham McNeill, to name a few. I began my career in the translation of roleplaying games and participated in the collaborative translation of more than 20 roleplaying manuals; my specialties are fantasy (high, epic or low, sword and sorcery, steampunk, dystopia, urban, you name it...), science-fiction, adventures for the young public and scientific popularization. (I could not find links on Amazon.com for the French version of some of the books I included in my portfolio, but they really exist in French, and I translated them !)
I love a good space adventure, a clever detective story, a besieged castle. Weak heroines waiting for their Prince Charming are really not my cup of tea. I also love poetry, but this is an entirely different beast, which requires a great deal of work, dedication and time. I have had the joy to translate excerpts from William Morris, Robert Frost, Gerard Manley Hopkins and that was... so difficult and so rewarding! I am a gamer too (roleplay and MMORPG) and I practice historical fencing.
My editors appreciate my excellent work, honesty and respect of delays, and I can provide proofreading by trusted professionals. As you know, there is much more to translation than a simple swap of words. One must adapt and transpose in order to bring the spirit of the text to the reader, while keeping every nuance that you, the author, wanted him or her to enjoy.
I see the process of translation as a collaboration. I may have questions, and I will be happy to answer yours if you wish to communicate with me. I love every one of the books that I have had the pleasure to translate, and I will make every effort to be your voice in another language, so that your new readers can savor all the images and situations you invented for them. You should know that the entire process will take a few months, depending on the length and technicality of your book.
I never accept a book without being able to read it first, to be sure that I will be the best person for the job, and I insist on reviewing the text and having the final say after proofreading.
