I edit, copyedit, and proofread books, magazines, advertising copy, corporate publications, and academic articles for a variety of clients on a contract basis, determining the simplest, most effective means of communicating content while ensuring technical and grammatical accuracy. Some of my past projects include the following:
• Line editing, developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading of various books dealing with Asian themes (bonsai; Japanese, Chinese, and Thai cookbooks, etc.) for Tuttle Publications (ongoing since 2014).
• Developmental editing, copyediting, proofreading, and rewriting for a variety of private clients and small publishers both in the US and Japan, including numerous titles for the Japan Library (JPIC).
• Line editing, copyediting, and proofreading of numerous books related to Japanese culture, particularly Japanese martial arts, for Kodansha International (2006 to 2011, when the company closed its English-language publishing department)

I have in-depth knowledge of many fields, from cooking and mechanics to martial arts and tea ceremony. I speak fluent Japanese and French and conversational Spanish and German, and have a BA in Classics from Columbia College in the City of New York.
