Overview
When it comes to literature, Olivia isn't picky. She loves everything from crime to poetry, but romance novels take the cake. Olivia is looking to break into the book editing world and share her editing skills with talented authors.
Olivia has worked as a story editor for The Planet, an environmental magazine, as well as a copyeditor, website designer, and social media manager for Your Green Portal, an environmental podcast and blog. In each of her positions as a writer and journalist—such as for The Western Front university newspaper, South Sound Magazine, South Sound Business, 425 Magazine, 425 Business, Z Potential, and freelance work—Olivia has had the opportunity to refine her copyediting, proofreading, and query letter writing and editing skills.
While working at The Western Front as a city curiosities reporter, Olivia was granted the Reporter of the Quarter Award for clean copy and standing out as a benchmark of journalistic quality, as well as the On Deadline Award for consistently submitting stories in a timely manner.

Work experience
Premier Media Group
As an editorial intern for Premier Media Group, Olivia pitched and wrote feature stories for the company's four prestigious regional magazines: South Sound Magazine, 425 Magazine, South Sound Business, and 425 Business.
Along with feature stories, Olivia wrote two weekly newsletters. These included Sip & Savor, a food and wine newsletter, and Feel Good Friday, a newsletter highlighting nonprofits and feel good news. Additionally, she wrote news stories for all four magazines based off of press releases, worked on construction update features for the business magazines, and was in charge of The List, a monthly column featuring professionals in the region.
The Planet Magazine
As a story editor at The Planet, an environmental magazine, Olivia:
- Led a team of writers and aided in developing stories during weekly meetings
- Assisted with reporting and writing techniques
- Edited stories and provided timely feedback
- Worked with other editors to provide advice
- Fact-checked and copyedited final copy
Your Green Portal
As the digital website designer and social media editor for Your Green Portal and Green City Radio Show/Podcast, Olivia designs social media graphics, generates captions, and copyedits weekly blog posts.
The Western Front
As the city curiosities reporter, Olivia:
- published eight stories (one each week) about outdoor recreation, the local music scene, and local restaurants
- participated in weekly beat team meetings
- pitched three stories each week
- created infographics to go along with stories
- received the "Reporter of the Quarter" and "On-Deadline" awards
Iowa Environmental Council
As a summer communications intern for the Iowa Environmental Council, Olivia:
- wrote five stories in total about environmental justice, water quality, and clean energy
- participated in meetings with the legal, energy, water, and communications teams several days a week
- edited and wrote press releases
- worked 28 hours per week
Z Potential
As a writer for Z Potential, a student-run online magazine platform for aspiring writers to write about young activists around the globe, Olivia's duties included interviewing and writing about teen activists in a Q and A format, as well as editing her own work.
