Pauline Mardoc – Translator

Specialized in mass market novels and comic books, I've managed a YA imprint at PKJ (one of the most famous publisher of books for children in France, part of the Editis group, number 2 in France) for 8 years. Romance is the genre I've had the most success with as an editor. As a translator, I've diversified my areas of expertise to illustrated books for children (sometimes in verse), non-fiction and erotica.

How can I help: as an editor and a translator that knows French and French Canadian markets, I can provide you with advices that will help you reach your public there. When I translate I have in mind cultural references (whether it's best to keep them, to explain them or to replace them), humor (whether or not the joke/tone would be understood as you wish in your original work and how to convey it in French) and the specificities of the areas the text is aimed at (for example, some words could be considered offensive in French Canadian but are used as common nouns in everyday French in France)
