Overview
When I was a professor, I struggled to balance teaching, research, and service responsibilities, and my writing inevitably got pushed aside in favor of tasks with more pressing deadlines. When I did have time to focus on research (usually during "vacation" time), I felt overwhelmed by having to choose which journal to submit to, revising my references list, and applying every detail of the submission guidelines. I never realized that copy editors existed or that they could help me accomplish my publishing goals.
As an editor, I now have a toolbox of tricks to format and revise your text quickly and effectively so you can direct your energy to other tasks. My job is not only to proofread your manuscript and make sure the argument is clear; it's also to guide you through the publishing and job market landscapes so you can get published faster and land a job without being so overwhelmed.
If you've put off submitting a paper or drafting a book proposal because you don't have the time or knowledge to get started, or if you're struggling to finalize your job letters, please reach out. I have a strong record of publishing peer-reviewed research and I've landed two tenure-track jobs and one VAP position, so I know what it takes to succeed in these areas.
Contact me today so I can help you move forward and restore work-life balance.
**Please note: It's summer and the kids are off school, so I'm taking the month of August off of work. I will be responding to emails, but it may take a few days before I'm able to reply. Thanks for your patience. Have a great summer!
-------
I earned my PhD in political science and was a US politics professor for ten years. I have several peer-reviewed journal articles and a book on U.S. public opinion, so I know what it takes to get published. I also spent a year working on energy and environmental policy in the US Senate for Jack Reed (RI).
I've revised over 70 books and freelanced for academic publishers, including Edward Elgar. I also worked for Summersdale Publishers (UK), copy editing and proofreading health, parenting, and wellness books. My website includes a selection of the projects I've completed.
