Matteo Camporesi – Translator

I am a freelance translator with a 15+ years experience. I graduated in translation from English and Spanish into Italian at the University of Bologna in 2006. I started translating full time in 2009, working with international translation agencies, providing translation, proofreading, copywriting and LQA services in various fields. In 2017, I started collaborating with Italian publishers, both as a literary translator and scout. I have 18 published translations to my name and I am constantly scouting for interesting books to propose to Italian publishers. I am specialised in thriller and mystery niovels, but I have also translated fantasy novels, essays, music-related novels and short stories.

I love reading and discovering new books and authors, and I am very interested in the publishing world, following trends, news and opportunities in the Italian and international markets. I have acquired a lot of experience in the translation of thrillers and mystery stories, but I also love working on essays, fantasy stories and experimental fiction. I think all the books pose a great challenge and I like finding solutions to all the various issues that may arise during translation. I think the translator should make himself/herself invisible inside the story, in order to let the author's prose stand out, but I also love looking for the right "voice" of the characters, the thing that makes them recognizable every time they speak. I will be happy to help you bring your book to a new audience, offering you all the skills and experience I have acquired while working for important Italian publishers.
