Laure Deprez

Laure Deprez – Editor

A trade publishing editor, my job involves commissioning, editing, copy-editing, typesetting and proofreading new titles.

Overview

I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Communications (2012) and Master's Degree in book publishing (2014) from the University of Liege, Belgium. After my internships in a local publishing house and large-chain bookshop, I moved to Scotland to work for Ringwood, a small independent publishing house dedicated to Scottish interests, where I helped commission new titles and managed projects (editing, copy-editing, typesetting and proofreading manuscripts). Early last year, I was hired as an editor by Jacaranda Books, an independent publishing house whose mission is to create a space for unheard voices. I am efficient, open to suggestions and always on the lookout for opportunities to sharpen my skills. In terms of editing, I specialise in commercial fiction (crime, romance, sci-fi, etc). I am open to all projects when it comes to copy-editing and typesetting. If you choose me as your editor, I will also advise you on how to best approach a publisher or an agent.
