Daisuke S.

Daisuke S. – Editor

Developmental fiction editor specializing in experimental and speculative fiction manuscripts, as well as short stories.

Overview

I am a writer, educator, and editor based in New York City.

As a fiction editor, I offer developmental and copy editing services for short stories and full-length manuscripts, specializing in works geared toward the speculative and experimental. Throughout our collaboration, I will provide extensive feedback on your work, including suggestions for plot improvements, character development, pacing, and more.

As a writer, I am currently represented by Michael Mungiello at Inkwell Management. My debut short story collection, Vague Predictions & Prophecies, is forthcoming August 2024 from CLASH Books. My novella FUNERAL, co-authored with Vi Khi Nao, was published by KERNPUNKT Press in Jan. 2023. My short stories and poems have been published in a number of literary journals and magazines, including Joyland Magazine, Hobart After Dark, The Nervous Breakdown, The Asian American Literary Review, and more.

I’m looking to work with writers who aren’t afraid to break the rules—bending genres, building different worlds, and seeking out complex truths.

Daisuke provided excellent feedback and went above and beyond with their editorial assessments. They went deeper than just the exterior of my story and dug deep into the heart of it, bringing attention to areas I hadn't thought about. I would highly recommend collaborating with Daisuke on any project.

Working with Daisuke was amazing! Her feedback was so insightful and perceptive. She was able to read my stories with a level of depth I was blown away by. Her advice helped me to see my stories so much more clearly and I can't express how helpful it was in letting me see which direction to go with them. Beyond all of this she is so incredibly kind and encouraging-- you will be treated with res...

I am still reeling from the care, depth, and concrete methods of improving my manuscript Daisuke provided to me. This was the first professional editor I've ever worked with and part of why I waited so long was I was afraid of mistreatment. My novel is still "something to be" and I have no important "name" but I was treated as if I did. I was treated like my work matters. I especially enjoyed ...
