Overview

My name is Daisuke Shen and I am a writer, educator, and editor based in Brooklyn.

I’m looking to work with writers who aren’t afraid to break the rules—bending genres, building different worlds, and seeking out complex truths. I am so looking forward to seeing what magic you create.

As someone deeply invested in liberation and building power across QTPOC communities, I would especially love to work with anyone whose work focuses on these topics. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I enjoyed our collaborative effort so much! She brought my story to life. It is sad we ended on bad terms, a disagreement over a frivolous point. I miss her, but I’m used to being cut off, for a point of difference, a moment of doubt, experience over assumed political correctness. I’ve been Canceled, I guess.

So easy to work with. I didn't know what to expect as this was my first time hiring an editor but she is really easy to talk to. And isn't quality communication an underpinning of this craft?

Daisuke was able to elevate the verses I wrote into poetic perfection. Not only was she able to follow my instructions but she also improved the manuscript (315 pages of poetry) to such a significant degree that I can only call her an artist, writer, poet and editor of the highest grade. If you are fortunate enough to work with Daisuke I congratulate you.

Daisuke was kind, very nice and provided helpful feedback. She helped in the overall development of the manuscript and went through three edits (or more) to get the manuscript polished. It was a great experience to work with her.

Daisuke was communicated with me well with meetings and clear expectations. She made my poetry look more professional while also allowing me to keep some of the flow of my poetry. I think our collaboration gave my work a good balance of poetry professionalism and flow.
