Overview

Hello, you beautiful monsters!

You did it! You made it to my profile! When I told my husband he started calling all our relatives! Some baked elaborate desserts in your honor. Others felt moved to write poetry. That really jacked guy at the gym started doing vigorous push-ups. Everyone rejoiced! So the hard part is over!

Let me introduce myself!

I’m Jaime Powell, editor extraordinaire! I am a professional editor, who has worked as a copy editor, and proofing editor. I am also an author who has 5 books with two different independent publishing houses and in 3 different genres.

I have edited almost all genres of fiction, but I specialize in horror, paranormal, magical realism, young adult, new adult, middle grade, contemporary drama, and dystopian.

If you wrote a romance, chances are I'm not the right fit for you. However, everyone loves a good romantic subplot! Even right now I am getting grabby hands just waiting to help out with all those beautifully written manuscripts.

I am a fulltime editor which means every manuscript will be as polished as I can make it. That way when you send it to the publishing houses of your choice, or are ready to self-publish, you will have a leg up on the competition!

Will you hate me at times? Of course. I am responsible for pointing out things that could be made better for your book which as an author myself, I sympathize. It's tough feeling like a stranger is messing with your baby. But that being said, you will find that I am your biggest cheerleader! By the time I am done, you'll have a manicured manuscript and a new best friend! (Yeah, I'm that good.) :)

(On a side note, however, I would like to stress that I do not accept MSs that have disturbing sexual scenes such as rape.)

I have edited more than 100 manuscripts, 20 of which I have included here on my profile, and all of which hold 4-5 star reviews on Amazon. I am always available, as I keep Reedsy open on my computer all day, so feel free to hit me up! Can't wait to work with you!

Very professional, straightforward and willing to provide criticism without being rude. Is meticulous in editing and really shines when handling errors in spelling and punctuation that could be missed throughout the writing process.
