Overview
Working in publishing has always been my dream, and since 2019 I have been working with publishing houses and editorial service agencies, first as a proofreader (so you can be sure that my Italian translation of your book will be super correct) and then as a translator.
So far (2024), I have worked on more than twenty books for publishers, mostly sports romance, romance and Y/A (including bestselling authors such as Elle Kennedy, Tahereh Mafi, Vi Keeland and Shannon Mayer).
I've loved every book I've translated, and I'm always excited to start a new project. But I'm also a very organized person. I always follow a three-step process:
- First, I translate the entire text. I take lots of notes: internal references, research I need to do, the most difficult passages...
- Then I start all over again! I carefully check my translation against the original text, looking for nuances that I may have missed in the previous step. Now that I have a complete picture of the situation, I can devote myself to all the research I have left to do. If I have the chance, this is the most productive time to contact the author to clear up any doubts that may have arisen.
- Finally, I put the English text aside and work only on my translation. I try to read it as if it were written in Italian, improving coherence, fluency and consistency. If possible, I let a few days pass between the first two steps and this one, in order to be less influenced by my translation choices and more objective.
