Julia Fuchs - Translator

Hey there, I’m Julia. I’m a translator, editor and proofreader from Germany with 20 years of experience, and I’d love to help you publish your book on the German market and make it a success! I'm passionate about creating flawless, compelling books (both fiction and non-fiction) and other kinds of texts. My translations are true to the original and read like an original.

My approach? Translating ideas! Because in the end it’s all about what’s behind the words, about telling a great story. It’s about finding the true meaning of every sentence and the right tone, so the words fit your genre, style, and, last but not least, your audience.

I actually studied translation at university many years ago, and over time I have worked on texts of many different topics, mainly marketing and medicine and some non-fiction books, too. Subjects I’m very interested in personally include the natural world, green living, self-care, personal growth, horses, dogs, the arts, photography, architecture and design (I’m a visual creative and a state-approved graphic designer as well).

My latest passion are literary works. I’ve translated three cozy crime novels this year (about to begin the fourth), and I’m really enjoying this kind of work, so that’s what I’m primarily focusing on now. I have also edited a novel of the same kind, translated by a colleague of mine, and I’d definitely love to edit more books in the future.
