Overview
MY LIFE AS A TRANSLATOR
Translating isn’t just my career—it’s how I’ve lived my life for over 20 years. With dozens of books and more than a thousand TV shows behind me, I’ve never missed a deadline, but more importantly, I’ve always sought deeper cultural understanding. Born in Germany, married to an American, raising cross-cultural children in Ireland, and having spent extensive time in South Africa, Israel, the UK, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Nigeria, Australia, Switzerland, and numerous other countries, I’ve gained life experience that gives me unique insight into how meaning travels between cultures.
I’ve translated widely across genres and topics, including the men’s edition of the mega-bestseller THE FIVE LOVE LANGUAGES, #1 NEW YORK TIMES motivational writer Joyce Meyer, as well as high-profile adventurers, environmentalists, musicians, thinkers, and novelists. My degree in Biblical Studies has led to significant theological translations, but my personal bookish interests stretch beyond my degree—I’m eager to engage with history, philosophy, compelling fiction of various kinds, and genres not yet represented in my portfolio. If you’re seeking thoughtful, culturally aware, and reliable translation, I’d love to collaborate.
OUR COLLABORATION
Once you send me your manuscript—preferably as a Word file (though for graphic novels I can work directly in Adobe apps such as InDesign)—let me know your ideal timeline and if you’d like proofreading included. I’ll promptly provide a quote and confirm my availability. I’m always open to discussing your budget, so don’t hesitate to mention it. Before starting, we’ll clarify any stylistic preferences, such as formal versus informal address (“Sie” vs. “du” in German), and I’m happy to advise if you’re unsure. Throughout the translation, I’ll keep you updated, checking in with any queries that arise. You’ll receive your translated manuscript—carefully completed and, if desired, fully proofread—on or before the agreed deadline.
FUN FACT
I’ve translated about dogs, and trained them, too—a year spent as a dog trainer during my civil service taught me cross-species communication!
