Joanne Gledhill

Joanne Gledhill – Editor

Editor, copy-editor and proofreader, formerly editor at Orion Books. Now working with authors to help them achieve their writing goals.

Overview

I am a freelance editor, copy-editor and proofreader and have worked on books from some of the UK's bestselling authors, as well as international bestsellers, such as Linwood Barclay, Maureen Lee, Anthony Horowitz and Cathy Kelly.

I worked for many years as an editor in some of the biggest trade publishing houses in the country - Orion Books, Hodder & Stoughton, Headline Publishing - and have recently become a freelance editor, working with authors on their novels and non-fiction work.

I help authors find their voice, sort pacing or plotting issues, catch errors and get their work ready for publication or the eyes of an agent/publishing house.

Joanne was efficient, timely, and supportive. It took me a while to work out my schedule, but she managed to fit me in and accommodate me. Her work was excellent -- she went above and beyond by pointing me in the right direction for things she didn't need to, and she was very easy to work with. Joanne is as dedicated as you are (the author) to making your book a success, so what more could you ...

I approached Jo along with four other potential editors for my science fiction novel. After sending her my first chapter to do an example edit it quickly became obvious that she was the best choice. Jo seemed to 'get' my novel, and, in my mind, understood exactly what sort of novel I was aiming for. To top it all off - her prices were incredibly competitive too! Jo was a delight to work with. She helped me craft my novel into the best version it could be for publication. I anxiously look forward to her helping me with the sequels.
