Overview

I’m a ghostwriter, author, and editor with two decades of experience in publishing. During that time, I’ve had the privilege of helping dozens of clients figure out how they want to share their experiences, their big ideas, and sometimes their life’s work. My writing has been published by Algonquin, Bloomsbury, Hachette, HarperOne, Hay House, Henry Holt, Penguin, Random House, Rodale, Simon and Schuster, and others. It includes New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Amazon bestsellers, as well as book club selections and award winners. My ghostwritten projects have been called "downright engrossing," "thoroughly engaging," "highly recommended," "heartbreaking and hilarious," "breakthrough," "delightful," and "essential" by professional reviewers, and they consistently earn outstanding reader reviews.

I write narrative and prescriptive nonfiction and have a special interest in memoir projects. I love to learn about new topics and have worked with authors from a wide range of fields, including health and wellness, animal behavior and veterinary care, business (including investment and entrepreneurship), food, travel/adventure, women's issues, education, and parenting. I'm an expert at shepherding projects from idea to publication and am equally versed in taking problematic, stagnant manuscripts and shaping them into focused, vitalized, saleable books.

If you have a great story to tell, a unique area of expertise, or a following that would benefit from a book, don't be afraid to start a conversation with a reputable ghost writer. At its best, the process is a true collaboration that helps authors share their messages and define their legacies.

Jana Murphy's work on the project far exceeded my expectations. She truly "got" the information I was trying to convey, and the ghostwritten material she produced was excellent. She was knowledgeable, prompt, professional and provided many insights to improve both my manuscript and the proposal process. I highly recommend her services.
