I'm a freelance translator (EN-DE) and editor (DE) specialising in literature, arts and humanities. I translate both non-fiction and fiction:
- guides, handbooks, self-help books, specialised texts on cultural or art topics, history, social sciences & health;
- novels of various genres: mystery, adventure, historical fiction, social novels, biographical fiction;
- screenplays and documentary film scripts.
I've worked with publishers, universities, cultural institutions, translation services and other public or private customers... I like to be versatile and offer 100% human translation.
I hold a master's degree in philology (English language and literature) and have multifaceted experience working with language—whether in creative writing or specialised texts: I love attention to linguistic detail, shades of meaning and emotion, handling levels of style and styles of speech, tone and rhythm, well-formed sentences and accuracy in getting the message across. In fiction, I'm good at realistic drama, mystery, the poetic and the interpersonal :-)
Also, I work together with a German proofreader, so this service could be included if you would like a final proofread for the translation of your book.

I've already done editorial work and translations before 1999 but had other jobs and work experience then as well: as a language teacher (German as a foreign language), lexicographer, intern at a publishing house and temporary member of staff at the German Institute in Dublin, Ireland. I spent one year of my university studies in London and for one year I worked (and travelled) in Australia and New Zealand.
For the sake of completeness: As a developmental editor and copy-editor I have worked with many authors of crime fiction, historical fiction and children's books (see some of the links provied), but also on non-fiction publications, e.g. in the fields of art or health.
