Erica Ellis – Editor

Overview

I work collaboratively with authors to help them say what they want to say in the best way possible. Whether you need help with big-picture story issues like character development and plot pacing or you are looking for someone to smooth and polish your writing line by line, I can help! I hold a copyediting certification from the University of California San Diego, and I have developmental editing training from the Author-Editor Clinic, and Club Ed. I have over nine years experience as a full-time editor and have helped numerous authors prepare their books for publication. I would love to be your partner as you bring your stories to the world.

Provide manuscript review, line editing, and copyediting for independent authors and publishers.

“Thank you so much for being a part of the Archangel Ink team. I can’t adequately convey how grateful I am to have someone of your skill, diligence, and character as our chief editor. I feel confident every time we have clients’ work go to you.” ~Rob Archangel, cofounder of Archangel Ink

“I enjoyed working with you… Your edits and comments have helped me significantly polish and strengthen my manuscript. I will keep in touch on future projects and refer other writers to you if I am ever asked for a referral. Feel free to list me as a very satisfied client.” ~Ed Sheehy, author of Cade’s Rebellion

“Your work on my stories has been a real blessing. I am doing my best to imbed what you are teaching me and to extrapolate further. Your worth, to me, Erica, far exceeds the cost of your services. Thank you.” ~Jim Schoen, author of a short story collection

"Erica is wonderful to work with. She asks clarifying questions, fixes my comma abuse, and points out anything that doesn't make sense. I can't express how happy I am with the speed of her work and how detailed it is. I'm looking forward to finishing my next novel and sending it to her." ~Renee Lovins, author of Ink Deep

"Thanks so much for the edits. I have a few other books in the pipeline. I'll be keeping you in mind for editing them too; your work has seriously improved this work." ~E.L Ryan, author of Final Praxis

"Erica's web pages 'Editing' and 'FAQ: How Does the Editing Process Work?' neatly and accurately describe her process. However, seeing her work on your own writing is beyond thrilling. Erica transformed Haylee and the Travelers' Stone from a VW into a Jaguar....ready to hit the Indy road! No question about it - she'll be editing the sequel." ~Lisa Redfern, author of Haylee and the Travelers' Stone

"Erica has a remarkable grasp for those pesky rules and a great eye for story consistencies! I'd use her again in a heartbeat!" ~June Kramin, author of I've Got Your Back, Hailey and other novels

“Erica Ellis has been a huge help in correcting my English. I’m a speed typist, so when I started writing books, I needed a lot of help with corrections. Erica came to my rescue. Thank goodness! If you’re an author looking for an editor, let me just say, shop no further.” ~ Jill Sanders, author of The Pride Series, The West Series, The Grayton Series and many more.

“Wow. Just finished working through your edits. Thanks! You found many grammatical issues that I had missed through several rounds of self-editing, plus had a lot of good points about places that could get confusing to a reader. I feel my manuscript is much more readable now.” ~ Daniel Rice, author of This Side of a Wilderness

I enjoyed working with Erica. A key to any collaboration is communication and she made it effortless without any hassle. I received a timely response each time. Her editing skills helped bring my short story to a quality and consistency I was looking for as I began my search for a professional editor. Furthermore, her advice was sharp, not to mention constructive. I wasn't disappointed with the...
