Rose Lerner – Editor

Book doctor, editor, researcher. I love romance and historical fiction! (Areas of expertise: Regency, queer, Revolutionary War, Jewish.)

For over a decade, I've been in demand as a brainstorming partner, beta reader, historical fact-checker, and critiquer for my friends. In 2018 I decided to start taking paid clients. I've worked with critically acclaimed romance writers such as Molly O'Keefe, Alyssa Cole, and New York Times bestselling authors Courtney Milan and Tessa Dare. My favorite testimonial is probably this from Joanna Bourne: "I have NEVER had such a complete, insightful read of a manuscript."

I write historical romance, and I'm a giant nerd about story structure, words, professional wrestling, history, and the musical "Hamilton". I've published eight historical romances and a billionty words of fanfiction. My Lively St. Lemeston series has been featured in NPR's Book Concierge and Publishers Weekly's Best Books of 2014.

I love research (I mean, I LOVE it) and strive for accurate, inclusive history. I've taught craft and research workshops for conferences and libraries, as well as online seminars on women in Regency politics.

Fiction is magic, and it's also science. I love stories, and I love sticking my hands in them and messing around in there. I'd love for us to tinker with yours together!

As a new writer I was stymied after completing my manuscript. I decided to get a developmental/content edit done to get feedback on my overall story. Rose delivered a helpful and detailed report on the good and the areas I needed to work on. Price was reasonable and all was very professionally done. I feel like I have the tools to make my story better. Thank you Reedsy
