Overview

I've been a freelance proofreader for over 8 years working on new publications for academic publishers including Bloomsbury, Taylor and Francis/Routledge, Edward Elgar Publishing, Haus Publishing, Hodder Education and Sage Publications. A buzz from doing this work is seeing books I have previously worked on being cited in new publications that I am working on.
But that's not why I'm here. I want to use this experience and work on my passions which are sport and music. Don't be fooled by the dull photo of a slightly frazzled dad taking a breath on a frenetic family day trip to the zoo. Lurking beneath that exterior is a sports nut and music freak who has done his time at raves, sweaty gigs, loves several diverse genres of music stretching over 50 years from the Velvet Underground to Wet Leg and who (apparently) has 18 different genres of music on his Spotify playlists. I folIow a wide range of sports and have a good (some would say obsessive, but who cares what they think) knowledge of their histories. My knowledge of punk bands was a real help on the Global Punk book listed in the portfolio.
So, why choose me? Well, you'll get someone who will give you 100% commitment to accuracy, consistency and attention to detail. Your project and its success will mean as much to me as I'm sure it will to you. I'm very good at sticking to deadlines and the date I say I'll return something is when it will come back. I've never missed a deadline.
Enough about me. What do I want from you? Oh yes, this is a two-way process. I want to see work where your passion is oozing from the pages, where your commitment to your subject is leaping at me through the paragraphs and where your love for what you're doing is expressed through every word and sentence. I can help you ensure that your project looks polished and ready for its onward journey. The reason I'm here is to work with people on projects that are close to their hearts. I've already been able to help authors on this platform and would love to be able to help many more. Go on, trust me with your passions, pet projects and labours of love, I'm looking forward to reading about them!

Andy caught many mistakes and was most helpful in advising changes that removed any ambiguity about intended meaning. He gave an A+++ service. I would use him again.
