Overview
I've been in publishing for over 20 years, working as editorial assistant, doing proofreading, indexes, editing, then in full-time translator capacity. I also helped organize promo events and several editions of the international literary festival La Milanesiana. Authors I translated: William Faulkner, Joyce Carol Oates, Michael Cunningham, James Ellroy, among others.
Best compliment I receive: it doesn't even sound translated! I work accurately, with thoughtful attention to the tone, feel and imagery of the original, and to the flow and idiomatic effect of the Italian text. I like to plunge into stories and let them carry me along. I can be trusted to respect client deadlines. I work autonomously but also enjoy having a direct line with authors, as I did most recently with Natasha Pulley (The Watchmaker of Filigree Street) and Douglas Stuart (Shuggie Bain), sharing my work- and thought-process and listening to their inquiries and needs. Being Italian, I love good food and good wine, and I'm always up for a laugh.

Work experience
Bompiani
Worked there two years after a six-month internship, reporting directly to the editor-in-chief. Job description spanned from reviewing books for possible publication to organizing book launches, to attending major bookfairs (Frankfurt, London, Paris). While there, I translated my first book, short story "Tijuana, Mon Amour" by James Ellroy
Edizioni Olivares
Reported directly to owner and managing director. in addition to editorial work, I also worked on projects on then nascent digital television. While there I translated an exhibition catalog on the life and times of Saint Ambrose and Saint Augustine
La Milanesiana - literary festival
Definitely my most fun work experience. I was part of the organization staff for this international annual event, working on basically everything from conception to logistics. I gave input and suggestions on who to invite, managed contacts with lectureres, authors and artists, translated speeches, worked with the techs who projected the lectureres' scrolling text in both original language and Italian in the auditorium. I do the occasional translation for them to this day
