Bastian Ludwig – Translator

Hello, my name is Bastian, and I love stories. The small ones and the big ones, the true ones and the made-up ones - and especially the ones that catapult us into completely different worlds.

That's why I've been working as a translator in the fields of fantasy, science fiction and horror since 2014. I have translated works by well-known genre authors such as Richard Kadrey, Simon R. Green, Tyler Whitesides and Hafsah Faizal into German for renowned German publishers as Blanvalet, Piper, Panini and Knaur.

Having written my own novel, the murder mystery “Des Teufels Mörder”, I can empathize with you as an author and understand the respect your work deserves. When translating, I dig deep into the world you have created in order to design a universe of words in my mother tongue that does justice to your text.

In the process I revise each translation several times. First, I translate in one go to capture the rhythm and style of the original work as well as possible, then I carefully revise this draft until the last puns and cross-references are in place.

If you wish, we can work closely together. But you can just as easily entrust me with your work, because I'll adapt it with diligence and respect - and I've never missed a deadline.
