Alejandro Reyes

Alejandro Reyes – Translator

Freelance translator for over 25 years. English, Spanish, and Portuguese in any direction. Specialize in literature and the social sciences.

Overview

I am a literary and academic translator with over 25 years’ experience. I work with publishers such as Routledge, Duke University, University of Texas, Federal University of Bahia (Brazil), Captain Swing (Spain), Paralelo 13S (Brazil). I translate English, Spanish, and Portuguese in any direction. I specialize in literary translation (novels) and academic translation in the social sciences. I am also an award-winning novelist with works published in Mexico, Brazil, Portugal, and France.

Translation is not just about getting the ideas across. It is about doing it in a way that faithfully reflects the author's own style, that catches the subtleties of meaning and cultural context, and that brings to life the universe that gave birth to the work. I therefore work closely with the author and/or publisher to make sure that we agree on the right approach from the start and that the translated work reflects the author's intentions as faithfully as possible.
