Vicki Snowdon

Vicki Snowdon – Editor

CALD works specialist in corporate, academia and non-fiction. Accredited editor, technical writer and proofreader. Copyeditor for AJIS.

Overview

With a background covering a wide range of experience (from engineering and security to medico-legal and not-for-profits), I am open to many subjects. Apart from those that are editing-related, my qualifications cover security, risk management, finance, technology, training and assessment, and project management. In the past few years, while working full-time as an editor at a security consultancy, I've run my own editing business catering mainly to university students - some I've journeyed with from undergraduate to post-PhD publications, providing support covering writing, referencing and formatting. I work a lot with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, having volunteered with Islamic Sciences and Research Academy for 10 years, which lead to becoming the copyeditor for the Australian Journal of Islamic Studies (AJIS) since its inception. I am forthright in my feedback, which some can find confronting, but other find comforting as I will never lie. Satisfaction is essential and I go beyond the ordinary to come up with solutions to issues authors may experience. In my "spare" time, I swim (one day I will manage to overcome my fear and do an ocean swim), cycle and walk.
