I'm a very experienced publicity and marketing professional with a passion for books; physical books that it's always a delight to acquire and an impossibility to part with. I can provide a wide range of marketing services from branding to CRM, social media, events, PR campaigns, festivals and so on that will get your book and you noticed. I was marketing director at The Folio Society for 5 years where I launched The Folio Prize. I now work on a wide range of projects across all media and believe you have to have a clear positioning coupled with great creatives to stand out from the crowd. This is what I will deliver for you.
I specialise in bringing new ideas and creative solutions to products and services. I am passionate about books, especially physical books and enjoy working on campaigns big and small. My approach is very flexible and fees are low!
Whilst at The Folio Society I was both Marketing and Managing Director with editorial responsibilities. I am an expert in marketing strategy and development and implementation of creative marketing campaigns on both a small focused scale or wider extent including PR and Events. I can bring great experience on both online and offline marketing activities to help your projects.
During my time as marketing director at The Folio Society, I started building the company as a publisher brand selling direct to consumers rather than being just a walled garden for members. I introduced new marketing ideas that included everything from targetted on and offline marketing to displays and creation of a Folio reading room at Booths in Hay.
The 'Rekindle your love of beautiful books' was a Christmas campaign that was developed to run across on and off line media and heavily featured on Underground posters. I led the set up and launch of the Folio Prize and the subsequent development of The Folio Festival at The British Library and many other innovative initiatives such as the 'Folio Shelfies' Campaign where readers sent in their pictures of their books shelves and all the different ways they made them special.
To encourage young readers in my role running editorial I oversaw the introduction of classics with wider appeal and more contemporary design such as The Day of the Jackal that featured a bullet hole in the slipcase!

A world without colour is unthinkable, and archaeologists have proved that the desire to mimic nature's hues in art is one of the earliest human instincts. In their attempts to create colour, artists, craftsmen and scientists have used every possible source, from the purple tears of sea snails and the blood of crushed beetles, to poisonous white lead and sacred Australian earth.
